With the birth of Xena’s child fast approaching, Ares is faced with the reality of the Twilight and, as a god, he may no longer be able to live forever. When he comes to Xena in an effort to explain to her how he feels about her and that he’s willing to live out the rest of his life as a mortal with her, Xena shoots him down and does not believe in his sincerity. When she’s gone, in a moment of pure sincerity, he admits to himself that he does love her.
