I just discovered that today marks 10 years since I launched www.shipperseasons.com

Back in 2001 when Xena was still on the air and I was in my junior year of high school, I was in a xena group online with a bunch of other people that were as passionate about shipping Xena and Ares together as I was. So we decided to band together to create a new virtual season in fanfic form to continue the series after it ended. The show ended but Xena's story didn't have to.

The site had many homes and many design incarnations, all maintained by me, on GeoCities and Angelfire and finally on its own domain in 2006. We all spent, at times, many late nights discussing story ideas, writing episodes, re-writing, re-writing again and creating the visuals that brought the stories to life (the manips were so fun!). The stories improved as we got better (at least, I hope I improved but I know I still have a lot to learn about good writing) and I honed my web design and graphic skills as well. There were a lot of blood, sweat and tears put into this volunteer project by me and others. I am so grateful for what we have accomplished. It was a huge part of my life in the 2000's.

Fast forward 15 years and 76 episodes later and the website is still online. Though it is still unfinished, due to time and creative constraints, I have not forgotten about it and do want to see it concluded in a way it deserves. I still have the basic idea for the final story that just needs fleshing out into a workable plot.

It looks like now is the best time to go back and re-read what we have done, get those creative juices flowing again. :)

Hello fellow shippers,

It's been a super, super long time, hasn't it? Some of you have wondered if the series is ever going to continue given that this hiatus has lasted more than 2 years. I wanted to put all of your thoughts to rest that: Yes, we will be continuing and we will be finishing out this series in the way that it deserves.

You're probably wondering why I am making a new post after so many months of silence. Well, I have been thinking about Xena and Ares a lot recently. I think the most in the last few weeks, what with being in a XWP mood of late and with the talk of Valentine's Day and this week being dubbed "the week of love" (and today the "day of love"). It's given me a lot of warm, fuzzy feelings, being reminded of them and just enjoying that feeling. I don't really know why but it's just recently--and so suddenly--infected me again, thinking about all the things I love about this pairing and why they have kept my interest and my passion. There is something truly unique about them--something they hold that I have yet to find in any other paring on television. Ten + years, they are still going strong for me and the more I realize how much I enjoy them, the more endearing this 'ship becomes.

But it's not just the pairing, it's also the Shipper Seasons. I can often be rather mushy when it comes to XA for so many reasons. But these seasons that we have created over the course of all these years since the series ended in 2001 have meant the world to me. Sometimes, it's hard expressing how much, and it's hard to explain just why it's been important. Maybe it touches something in me that I just really enjoy--since XWP has become a part of so much of what I enjoy, I love that we have been able to give Xena and Ares the life and the love that they deserved. It's fanfic--it gets me right in the heart, knowing what we have accomplished for them. We've taken something truly great and made it even better, so much fun and so vividly entertaining.

That's why I will see this series through until the very last episode when it concludes in a way that they, and all of you, deserve. So I just want you to know how much I appreciate you, the readers, for sticking by the series and always enjoying it. I hope that we can bring you something truly great in the end, something that you will continue to enjoy after it's all over.

Thank you everyone. You are all awesome.

Happy Valentine's Day.

Your devoted shipper and Shipper Seasons enthusiast,

~ Aurora

Hey everyone

It's been far, far too long since anything memorable has come from the Shipper Seasons. The last real update we made was when we celebrated 10 years online, in September 2011. In August of 2010, we left off with episode 7, Eye of the Storm. In the year and a half since then, we have yet to bring you any new episodes.

While too many things in our lives have kept getting in the way of producing this season, we never lost interest in the Shipper Seasons. We know that everyone is anxious to read what happens next (LadyKate and I included!) so I know that the long wait has been as frustrating as watching Xena and Ares' cat/mouse game for years, always hoping they would just consummate already (at least, that's a good analogy for me).

Now, we are finally......
Returning From the Ether!

We've been working extensively on the remaining episodes for season 10. We still very much want to see this series come to a conclusion that it so rightfully deserves!

So while we are doing our behind-the-scenes work, I thought it would be good to give everyone the opportunity to catch up on what has happened this season so you're all refreshed and up-to-date for when we air the next episode.

Each week, we will be re-running the season from the beginning. We hope you all enjoy this time and read the episode again, too! LadyKate and I will be re-reading the episodes as we go along as well, and will be discussing the ep afterwords via instant messenger. We'll be sharing that conversation with you all (posted under "Discussion" on the episode guide page).

So without further ado....

SS10: Episode 1
From the Ashes

After Jerusalem falls to the Romans, Xena and Gabrielle face the difficult task of leading Israelite refugees to safety while trying to rescue those taken captive by the Romans. With the help of some old friends, Xena is determined to save the Israelites and succeed where she has failed them once before.

Hey everyone (to everyone that still stops by the website, lol).

I know we've been extremely quiet for quite a long time. The site hasn't been updated with any new episodes in over a year and I want to apologize to everyone for that. I hope that all of you will stick around to see the conclusion of our tales which we will complete, I just don't have a specific timeframe right now. Life has been crazy but our passion for the Shipper Seasons is still very much alive! I will say this, though--I am working on outlines right now. We have several stories we wish to tell and we will.

Also, we still do very much want to do Virtual DVD's (I know that kind of fell off the face of the earth) but I think they will be on hiatus for a while. Possibly until after the series has completed. I do want to do them and we will, it just might take time. I will keep you posted.

I also wanted to come by and update the website on the 10th anniversary of Kevin's passing. I still think about it sometimes and what I love most about our series is that, in my heart, I dedicate every word we have Ares speak, every action he makes, to him, because without him, we never would have been given the Ares that we know and love.

Thank you to everyone who still continues to support the Shipper Seasons! I hope that we will see you all soon when we release the upcoming episodes! Stay tuned!

Hey everyone!

It's been a really long time since we had an update and I apologize for that. Life has been flying by, it seems!

I wanted to send an update on a few things. First, we're gearing up to celebrate 10 years of the Shipper Seasons at the end of this month. We have some special things planned so we hope you'll join us for the celebration!

In planning for it, we would love to hear what you have to say about the Shipper Seasons as well. So if there is anything you would like to say in appreciation please send your comments to us at theshipperseasons@yahoo.com and we will share them during the celebration. Please have your comments sent in by September 24th.

We hope to hear from you! :) And THANK YOU for your continued interest!

Secondly, we are still on hiatus with the next episode (and the remaining episodes). I've been working on outlines and the next ep is near completion so it should be here soon. I will keep you all updated--we are working, just wanted to let you know!

And finally, the VDVD's ended up taking longer than I had planned but fear not! We will be getting season 7 out shortly. :) Stay tuned!

Hey everyone, it's been a while since we've had an update. I just wanted to say we are still around and we are working on the upcoming eps even though real life stuff has been getting in the way a bit. Stick around to see what happens and we hope to have a real episode update soon. :-) Thanks to everyone for "watching"!

Hey everyone!

First of all, Happy New Year to all!

Secondly, we've been doing some schedule arranging recently. We all know that you want to read the remainder episodes just as much as we want to finish them. So to help with not knowing when an episode will be done and leaving everyone hanging, we've come up with a fairly broad schedule that everyone can look forward to. This change is due mostly to the fact that we're understaffed and busy etc. But we are going to persevere and we will finish the series. We're very dedicated to seeing it through so don't worry.

Below is the new plan:

8. Liberation - January/February 2011
9. Writer's Block - May/June 2011
10. A Long, Winding Road - September/October 2011
11. TBA - February/March 2012
12. TBA - April/May 2012
13. TBA - June/July 2012

The specific dates for the airing will be announced at least one-two weeks prior to the airing, and at that time I'll post the video promo, logline, collage as well. We are currently planning toward a 12-13 episode season.

Anyway, we just wanted to keep you in the loop.

If we are able to complete episodes at a faster pace (which we will be trying for), we will definitely move things up and there will be new announcements as to what is happening.

Thanks so much for everyone's ongoing support. We all appreciate it very much! It is for you, the fans, that this is so enjoyable. We love it on our own, I know I do, but doing it for others makes it even more worthwhile.

Shipper Seasons hits 200,000 views!!!

I went onto the website just now, and we have just very recently past its 200,000 view mark (it's at 200,063). I think that's incredible. Still going strong. :) Three years ago, in April 2007, we hit 100,000 views. So in almost four years, we've gained a 100,000 more views (which I think is pretty impressive given that between 2001-2007 was a longer span of time than between 2007-2010).

Hey everyone,

We're still plugging away at the next episode of season 10. :) Still hope to have an annoucment about it ASAP. In the meantime, I DO have an announcment to make that I hope everyone will enjoy!

Check out the video below:

The video speaks for itself, pretty much, but we will be re-running the Shipper Seasons starting New Years Day at 10pm MST (the time of the clock on this website). Each week on Friday, we will re-air an episode starting with season 7, then season 8 and so on.

Feel free to follow along and offer any new comments you might have about the episodes. You can send them through the Contact form on this website. You are free to join in the discussions on Xena Online Commuinty in Shipper Talk as well (and we'd love to have you!). We are looking to give our "fans" something to do while we all wait for season 10. Note that season 10 will continue to air as these reruns are happening.

Also, I might be throwing in a few "extras" here and there during the re-run process (as I go through all the old files I've got from episodes long ago and feel creative and such) So keep checking back to see if anything new is added the day of the re-run.

I will send out an email to all those on our mailing list so that you'll all aware of what episode is re-airing that week!

Most of all, I hope this all prompts you to want to go back and read the seasons from the beginning!

First of all, so sorry for the long amount of time without any update. I've neglected this site for some time simply because I had no update to give about the episode and didn't want to keep stringing people along with promises of the episode being out soon. I'll be sure to be more consistent in updating from now on even if only to say that we are still around. :)

Secondly, I don't have any specific update on the next episode of season 10. I'll be sure to make an announcement as soon as I do. We are working, we haven't abandoned this project at all and have no plans to. It's just been moving slower than we'd like. Please stay tuned and I'll have an update soon!

W'ere sorry it's been so slow lately. Other things just keep getting in the way. We're starting to get some momentum working on the shipper seasons again, though, and here's what's coming up:

Clean Slate
Arriving in Petra with the Israelite refugees, Gabrielle has a surprise encounter with someone she never expected to see again and is not sure she can trust. Xena's return adds to the tension--and so does Haimon's unexpected appearance, which forces Gabrielle to make some difficult choices.

You can see the small version of the montage on the season 10 episode guide page as well. As soon as we have a definte airdate, I'll let you know.

Hey everyone :-) I know it's been a long time since I've made any updates, and I appologize for that. I didn't want to say anything until we knew something specific. But since it's been quite a while, I'm here to give an update. We are working on the next episode. There is no airdate for it yet but as soon as we know it, it'll be mentioned. Just so you know we've been working and haven't disappeared or forgotten about the SS. :-D

Stay tuned!

Also, if you have noticed, on the front page of the site there is a link to the 2008 Xena Online Convention over at the Xena Scrolls website, and we (the Shipper Seasons) have been one of the nominees for the Xecademy Awards for Best Virtual Season. We would really love your vote when the time comes. I'll be sure to mention it again when the convention rolls around (in November) but I just wanted to make everyone aware of that if you didn't know already, and to ask you all to vote for us!

Hey everyone. I know it's been really quiet around here lately. I don't have much of an update for you but I just wanted to say that we're working and that I do hope to have an announcment about the next episode, including a title and logline, soon. I don't know how soon, yet, but we are working on it. I'll keep you posted.

Reviews for the premiere of seaosn 10 have been posted. If you like to submit a review, feel free to contact us!

Also, an update on the airing of episodes. We do not have any definite airdates lined up for the episodes and will basically be writing on an episode by episode basis. Our plan is to get an episode out at least once a month but we'll see how it goes. When an episode is near completion, an airdate will be posted. So, stay tuned! Also, episodes are scheduled to air on Sundays at 8 PM MST.

A Message from the Staff:

Hello everyone!

We are glad that all of you have been enjoying the Shipper Seasons over the years. :) As we begin to work on season 10, tentatively to being in early May, we have decided that we would like to get some help.

We would like to have another couple writers that can join the team. Having some extra help could help us stay on a more regular schedule.

If you're interested, please email us at theshipperseasons@yahoo.com. Tell us how you'd like to help and maybe even show us a sample of your writing (XWP fanfic or other fanfic is good).

We hope to hear from some of you!

Update! While I don't have specific details for upcoming episodes, I just wanted to let everyone know that our plan is to begin the final season at the beginning of May. I know, it's a long time to wait but we feel that by waiting to start then, we'll have much more of a chance to get episodes out to you in a timely manner and on-schedule. We've only got tweleve episodes for the final season and we all want to air them without delays. That is our goal. :-) Stay tuned! I hope to post more information about the premiere and the first couple of eps very soon!

There is a countdown on the season 10 page and I will continue to update that page with season 10 info.

Also, I have updated the site with reviews from "The Fall II" as well as two new reviews for season 7 episodes "A Very Narrow Bridge" and "Restoration". The Russian translations have also been completed for all season 7 and 8 episodes, linked from the episode guide pages.

Hello, all. We are really very sorry for the lack of updates. One thing has seemed to turn into another and, alas, the site just didn't get updated. I really don't have much news for you all at the moment but I just wanted to post that we are still around and that we haven't forgotten about the last season. :) I promise, as soon as I have information about when the season will start and information about the premiere, I will be sure to post it. Not to worry! Until then, hang tight, and stay tuned. :)

So, I have a couple things to share.

One, today is something of a celebration of sorts, if you will, for the Shipper Seasons. It's the six year anniversary of the first SS episode, "Letting Go".

An update on the finale of season 9--it is coming, slowly but surly. I have no definite update for you other than I'm hoping to have it out very soon. I know everyone is anxious to see how it all ends this season.

Also, I have an announcement about season 10. The plan is for it to begin late January. I'll give you a specific date once the finale ends. But for now, I wanted to let all of you know that.

Please continue to stay tuned everyone!

Also, I have added posters for episodes 7.05-7.08. We are also currently having our episodes translated into German by a fan of the Shipper Seasons, CK, who has decided to do so. So, the first three episodes of season 7 have now been translated and avaiable for viewing! They are in PDF format, and without the images.

I have added posters for episode 7.03 and 7.04. :-)

I (Aurora) have started to create movie-type posters for each episode of the Shipper Seasons. It's been fun. So, the posters for 7.01 and 7.02 are now available to check out on the episode guide page (where the PDF, TXT and Reviews links are located for each episode). I'll be adding more as time goes on. I eventually plan to get through all the episodes. Keep checking back!

I hope all of you like the new layout!! Take a look around, there are some changes that weren't in place befors. In particular, you'll see a difference on the ep guide pages ;-) as well as the Character pages. The video opening credits for season 7 and 8 (created by Ryan) and season 9 and soon to be 10 (created by Natty) have also been added to the episode guide teaser pages as embeded photobucket .flv files. So, you can watch them directly through the episode page (though it is generally recommended to download them for better viewing). There are also ending credits on the episode pages so that's something new, too. The navigation is a little different as well so just take a look around and see all the changes. Hope you all enjoy it!

Also, there are only two more episodes left of season 9! The next episode, "The Fall I", is scheduled to air next weekend if everything goes well. Here's the logline:

The Fall I
A message from an old friend brings Xena and Gabrielle to Jerusalem as the Israelites, bitterly divided, seek to recapture their land from Roman domination.

Reviews for "A Crazy Little Thing Called Love" have been added to the ep guide page. Also, a music video about Aphrodite and Hephaestus' relationship portrayed in that episode has been created by Natty and added to the Multimedia page. Check it out!

Aphrodite's farm costume and Gabrielle's pregnancy outfit have also been added to the costume section now located under Graphics under Extras on the navigation menu. The photo manipulations used in "A Crazy Little Thing Called Love" are also now on the Photo Manipulations page (located under Graphics as well).
